Default Doughboy AGP and an Intex Saltwater system?

Bought a used Doughboy pool, it's in decent shape with very little rust on the side walls, skimmer area, post and plates. Any rust was wire brushed off and painted the base plates and up the sidewalls about 6". I don't know the specs on the pump and filter, but I think it's a 3/4 HP and it's a sand filter. The pool is 16x24x4

This is an upgrade from an Intex 16' round we've had for a few years. During that time we purchased a Intex Saltwater system model 8110. I believe it to be big enough for our Doughboy, but am concerned about the salt water and the metal walls and post ? ? ?

You are right that saltwater can be corrosive. I'm not really the best one to talk to you about this as this is not really my area, but as soon as your registration is complete and your post is moved out into the regular section of the forum, you are more likely to have someone read it who can help.

    Welcome to the forum!

If there's any remaining warranty, you'll almost certainly lose it once you start using the saltwater setup.

Also, if rust has begun -- even if painted -- using salt will accelerate future corrosion. However, this is more of a problem in dry areas (where salt doesn't get washed away) then in rainy areas.
