    Yes, go ahead and add more Borax, until you get that pH up above 7.0. You can take a sample to the pool store if you want to, but be aware that they're going to try to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need--RESIST, no matter how hard it seems !!

    Or--you can go to WalMart and pick up the 6-way drop kit that they have for about $20 and probably do as good a job or better than the pool store...

    I have an hth pool and spa deluxe test kit I am using now it is a dropper kit not strips Is that ok for now

    I assume that kit doesn't test for CYA. Is that correct? We really need to know that reading. If you can't test it, at least let a reputable pool store test it for you. The Taylor K-2006 will test for CYA. Once you post your CYA level, we can better advise you.
