Is it safe to put chlorine sticks or pucks in your pool skimmer? Friend of mine says yes, pool installer does not recommend it. Says it will eat your skimmer housing out....Who is right. thanksfi

It is fine to put pucks in the skimmer as long as you run the pump 24/7. If you turn off the pump, remove them from the skimmer. They are very acidic and you don't want a high concentration of acidic water sitting in there. You would also want to remove the pucks if you are adding anything to the skimmer other than Borax.
