Default Circulation options for Hayward EC65 Perflex filter

I am curious what options there are for those of us who have Hayward Perflex DE filters (or other DE filters) that do not have multiport valves and the ability to set the system to circulate.

I am getting my pool clean after not opening it last year. So many threads discuss setting the system to circulate (like the ascorbic acid stain treatment one for example) but there are no Plan B's for people who have old school systems.

A tangent to this is, is there a way to add a multiport to a Perflex EC65?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
And btw - I am thrilled to be (almost) back in the swim and lurking through the forum!!

    Good night all -
