Thought I'd come back and update the thread. So it seems most of the iron settled on the bottom of the pool, I bought a what seemed like a nice vacuum for the pool, but it broke shortly after starting to use it. So what we did was backwashed the sand filter, boy was that water nasty, then we turned it back on filter again, brushed the heck out of the pool to get the iron back up floating, added chlorine in a floater, filled the pool up some more but this time put a sock stuffed with washcloths on the end of the hose, and today we have NO iron in the pool.So very very happy!
Good luck to everyone fighting iron in their water! It is possible to get rid of it, if I can do it with 80ppm then others can too!
