Is the pH of your fill water low?

No problems with my 35K gallon pool with Autopilot Digital SC-48. Just curious that for the first time ever my water seemed "saltier" tasting than normal so I took in a sample to a pool store and they said my "minerals" were only 2200. At the time the system said 3000. After having to add quite a bit of water (found and repaired a leak!) I took it to another store and they said 2400. My Autopilot said 2800.
I have always tried to keep the salt level right at 3000 and the system has always performed flawlessly even on power setting of 1 with 90+ degree water temp so reality is I trust the system more than I trust their readings. I know you can calibrate the salt level just wondering why there would be this discrepancy when the system is obviously working fine.
Also, from reading around the forum for years now it seems the consensus is that salt water generators drive up your Ph. My pool is the exact opposite. I have to add Baking Soda/Borax 2 times a year to keep my Ph/Alk up. Right now the pool is sitting at 7.0 after I just got it to 7.2 when we opened the pool. Could be all the water I added but I never see the Ph go up on its own. Doesn't bother me just curious, any thoughts on this?
ps - When I asked the expert at the pool store if they had any DPD powder as mine is getting old they looked like a deer in headlights and had no idea what I was talking about![]()

Yes it is from a well and I figured thats why it goes down when I add water. That said, I still never see the Ph rise even when I don't have to add water. Although, I suspect all the acid rain around ATL could drive it down as well!! I guess maybe I just have enough acidic conditions around that it more than offsets the salt water generator.
