    If you do use the trichlor pucks for a short time, your pH will likely drop so I wouldn't add the muriatic acid just yet. (You won't be able to use the pucks for long. Your CYA level is already approaching 40-50 which is where you want it. Double check to make sure you don't have dual-acting trichlor pucks with copper in them! If you do, do NOT use them.

    Old pool/ new owner =)
    32,600 gallon chlorine, inground, vinyl lined pool with deep end.
    Pump: Haywood 1.5 hp
    Filter: 300# sand filter.

    OK, since doing this, my ph has gone up to at least 8. I guess it's time to add the acid?

    Yes, time for muriatic acid. Be careful with the stuff. Gloves, glasses, pour it close to the pool to avoid splashing, be upwind of fumes.
