Default 2006 1st time PS232 test results, etc...

    Hello all,
I have a 30' AG pool, and I did my first test of the season. Now, we live in Western NY, so we will not even start opening the pool for almost another month, but since I never cover the pool for the winter, I can test now.
    Here are my numbers;

    FC- 2.0
    CC- 0.5
    ph- 7.2
    Alk- 70
    Cal- 110
    Cya-60

Any suggestions? I still have to add about 10" of water when I hook up my filter, etc, in a few weeks.
I'm not sure what i'll use for chlorine this year....buying cases of bleach last year got a bit old...I hate how the hockey pucks make my cya go up, but I do miss the convience of just throwing a puck in the skimmer or floater every so often. I don't mind high stabilizer levels.I just need to keep more chlorine in there to have enough working......
I may buy a bucket of pucks, and use the bleach, and use both through the season...I know not to mix them.

    Thanks, Frank D.

With a cya of 60, you need to keep your chlorine between 5-10. Also, I would bump the ph up just a little to 7.4-7.6 and the alk up just a little to 80-125.

    Thanks Watermom!
As always in the spring, my pool knowledge gets a bit rusty....I need to spend some time reading all the posts to get my poolsmarts up again.

I'll add more chlorine...I knew it was low for that cya level.
I'll also add some borax for the ph.
If I remember correctly, I think I add baking soda for the alk. Am I correct?

I'm not too concerned yet....there are still a few leaves in the pool along with the regular amount of dirt from a winter's worth of wind, etc.

I'll hook up the filter in a few weeks and really get things going....I will add the needed stuff though so it stays as nice and clear as it is now.

    Thanks!!
    Frank D.
