Default Cloudy pool - Have I been "pool stored"?

    Second post, different subject.

I've got a vinyl liner, 25,000 gal, Bacquacil. Solar heated temp is about 85.

Pool was slightly cloudy. Initial test showed
    Baquacil 25
    Total Alkalinity 14
    pH 7.2
    Oxidizer 28
    Copper 0
    Iron 0
    Total Disolved Solids 100
    Saturated Index -4.2

    They sent me home with
38 pounds of Total Alkalinity Increase
    51 pounds of Calcium
    5 pints of Baquacil

TA and Calcium was added in 1/3rds approximately 6 hours apart

Pool is still cloudy, and see bottom in shallow end but not in deep end. Second test 3 days later
    Baquacil 53
    Total Alkalinity 119
    pH 7.9
    Oxidizer 0
    Copper 0
    Iron 0
    Total Disolved Solids 1475
    Saturated Index 0.3

They want me to add 5.5 lbs of pH decrease. Also said to use blue clarifier daily, or even twice daily, until problem goes away. I gave it one more dose of clarifier, and it did no good. Also, after reading this forum, am concerned about using it too much.

I would consider converting to chlorine, but cannot do that now. House is on the market, and I cannot deal with the week of green/brown right now.

    Any thoughts?

Yeah, the calcium is USELESS for a vinyl pool...it's to prevent water from eating the calcium-based mortar in plaster, grout and concrete.
As for the "total alkalinity increase" : If you paid more than $.80/lb you got ripped off. Because it's chemically EXACTLY the same stuff as A&H Baking Soda. Neither the calcium nor the baking soda will do ANYTHING to help clear your pool.

I don't know much about Baq but the rule of chlorine is: when you have such problems stop putting in anything but your sanitizer, and put it in in very large amounts.
