Sorry for the confusion. After backwash it always shows 21 psi as it does now. Problem is that the psi has not moved for two weeks. Glad to know they are not costly and I'll get a new one this week.
Thank you.

If your water is clear and there is very little to filter out, then it's possible that the gauge isn't malfunctioning. Are you filtering out enough "stuff" that you think it should have risen by now? My filter can often go 2-3 months without needing to be backwashed, because there's very little stuff for it to filter out.

I have lots of trees and this time of year lots of tree stuff in the pool. Water is clear and the inlet flow does indeed seem strong. I'll wait another week to see if I have psi increase. Thanks
check the gauge with the pump off- if it returns to 0, then 21 when you turn pump on, it's probably ok...
if it stays at 21, its stuck and go ahead and replace...
A few days ago I did that: turned the pump off it still said 21. I tapped it and it went to zero. Then pump back on and it went to 21.
However, today it reads 24, soooo I think it just may be ok? Water still crystal clear.
Thanks again everyone
if it still hangs when you turn pump off, I'd replace it; about $10 at Home Depot, 5 minutes to replace
That inexpensive, I will do it. Thanks
