    Exclamation Algae or Sediment?

Filled my pool last night added some bleach...etc. This morning about 8 hours after it was filled there are brown spots on the bottom. When I get close to them with the net they dissolve. However, they are back and start building back up with in an hour. It's only on the bottom in small spots or near the seam or the few creases my husband left.

Could this be an algae so quick? With in hours? or is it most likely the stuff in my city tap water? It's almost a rust color. Not slimy and very thin but layers up.

What should I do? Still trying to get chlorine levels up...

Also, when i filled the pool with the hose the water had a slight brown/brackish color to it...now it's nice and clear...could this just be the stuff that was in the water? if so how do i get it out...if not how do I treat it?

It's probably just the stuff that was in your fillwater, or possibly in your hose, or may just be dirt and pollen that's in the air. No need to treat it, just get your chlorine into the pool, and your CYA, and vacuum the stuff off the bottom.

By the way, it would be helpful if you can put all your posts in one thread--creating multiple threads in different forums makes it hard for people responding to you to get a clear picture of what's going on with your pool. I would suggest that you add posts to your original thread until you get your pool opened up, chems balanced and running....it makes it easier to keep the forum organized and for people to give you helpful, but not repetitive advice.

    Thanks Janet!

And I will take the advice of keeping the same thread. I was worried that if I kept posting in the same thread it would get overlooked as 'already answered' and that it would be too much at once...but great..I will go with that one! THANKS A TON for all your help!

Also, I just went back out and checked and there are only a few spots that have formed again. I checked my filter just out of curiosity....it looked like someone had dipped it in tea about 3 quarters of the way up. I took the hose and washed it out well. Looked just like strong tea pouring out of it. There was barely any visual signs of where it had been once I rinsed it well. I stirred those few spots back up and hopefully the filter will pick it back up.

yep, it sounds like just dirt/sediment from your water...
As Janet said, you need to get your FC maintained, with some clarifier, and then worry about the rest of the balance
If pH is way off (<7 or >8) adjust the pH soon also!

I'll have to disagree with madwil on one point-- clarifiers are rarely necessary, and if the water is clearing without it, don't add something you don't need!
