Floor drains AG, and new wrinkles

Anybody recommend the floor drains for an above ground pool. Seems like would clean a lot better but worried about could leak.

Also I had a wrinkle free liner for 4 years, and was fine when closed and covered pool. Now opened and have a lot of wrinkle on wall just from over the winter.

If you have a properly set up AG, you shouldn't need a floor drain. I have a low drain in my shallow end of my AG, and that's enough.

If you are having a problem, you may want to consider a low drain on the side, but only after you have ruled out the other causes.

What is a low drain and why shallow end? Are we talking about same thing.?
A floor drain is just like you see in all inground pools. You would have a wall skimmer and a floor drain that supplys water to pump. The floor drain would suck in water from the center and bottom floor of the pool were most dirt collects and would keep it cleaner. Afriend of mine is just getting ready to install one and I might do same but concerned if they could leak longterm.

Hi, I do not recommend a center drain. Twenty years ago we installed a lot of them. Now I may do one a year. If not installed correctly they can be a real pain and another place for the liner to leak. The big reason we don’t use them anymore are pool cleaners. Automatic pool cleaners clean the pool and they draw water from the bottom of the pool. They do what a center drain does but better.

Your wrinkle on the wall happened because of the following:
The ground under the area of the wrinkle was like very saturated with moisture during the frost season and heaved the wall up which pulled the liner up, when the wall settled, the liner unfortunately didn't and left a wrinkle where it bunched up.
To solve the problem you have to drain to close to the line in order to shift the wrinkle up and away, but this will not guarantee that next winter it won't happen again, what has to be done is that you have to get better drainage around the pool so the ground won't saturate as much.
Digging a ditch and running weeping tile is an option and making sure the ground slopes away from the pool is also recommended.
