Default MultiPort Value Leaking to Waste

I am losing ~1/4" of water per day, and it appears that I am losing it while my pump is on through the multiport valve waste port. I can see a trickle of water (especially when bubbles are present) through the clear inspection piping.

My multiport valve is a PacFab 8 position unit that is 11 years old - see http://www.eatel.net/~vgg659/PacfabValve.JPG .

Should I replace or rebuild the valve? If rebuild, is it hard to do and where can I find a kit?

Pop that puppy open and inspect the spider gasket (a/k/a wagon wheel). If you see that it's torn or wrinkled, simply remove the bad one and replace it with a new one.

Turn off the pump and unscrew the 6 screws on top and lift up on the handle. This gives you access to the gasket. If you need a replacement part Pentair bought Pac-Fab some years ago, so they'd be the ones to have it.

Make sure that yo know what position the valve as in, so that you can back on properly oriented.
