Cool salt water chlorinator--bypass versus inline systems

i've gotten a lot of brochures about these systems..
but i want to know the pros and cons of getting the different type of systems..
    and which manufacturers make them?

is the bypass system something new? any history? problems?
it looks like most of my neighbors have an inline system?
do they wear out sooner since all the water passes through the system??

I can't answer your question, sorry, but take a look at the SWC section of the forum and do some reading. It may offer you some useful information. Welcome to the forum!

naplesnole, thats a very general question. You would be hard pressed to find an actual, unbiased comparison of the salt systems that are available. Salt Chlorine Generators are either Off Line Brine systems or Inline systems. Within the Inline systems, only AutoPilot offers the Manifold Bypass Assembly, which is designed to slow the flow of water through the cell. We've found greater efficiencies by doing so vs cells that allow full flow through the cell. It doesnt wear out the cell prematurely, but rather, slowing the water flow allows more contact time within the cell, where the chlorine concentration reaches breakpoint chlorination.
I think this answers the gist of your post. If you have specific questions, please ask.
