    Default Pump repair

My impeller is good and the pump turns on however it's not pushing the water through? Bad motor? Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance/

If you've got water in the pump, and the motor turns, and the impeller is fine . . . then the pump will work.

If it's not working, either something you think is OK actually isn't OR there's an obstruction (valve in the the wrong position, maybe) in the piping.

You say the impeller is good....did you visually inspect it by taking the pump apart? Usually nothing goes wrong there unless a) really bad motor bearings and the impeller makes physical contact with the pump housing or b) something got caught in it and it got damaged, highly unlikely. How do you know the motor is turning? If there is no water in the pump housing you will hear it slowly spin down when you kill power. Sometimes the motor will hum at a low or high level depending on what failed in the electronics and just not turn. I guess sometimes people could mistake the hum for it actually turning. Any pressure reading on the filter gauge?
    Some questions to chew on.

If the impeller is good and doesn't have anything stopping it up, then it's also possible that the shaft that connects the impeller to the motor has broken--happened to my pump last summer. Should be easy to see when you take the thing apart, which you'll have to do to inspect the impeller anyway.
