The first thing you need to do is figure out your starting point--run a set of test numbers with a good, drop-based kit, or at a minimum take a sample to the pool store to get your numbers and then repost them here. If your pH is somewhere in the 7.0-7.6 range, then you'll need to leave it alone and start bleaching. If it
s below 7.0, then getting it back up will be a priority. As for bleaching, you really can't do that until you know your beginning CYA number--and CYA has been known to stay stable over a winter, and it has frequently been known to completely disappear and have to be re-added. So....get your starting point, and we can help you go from there!! (A little deeper south--LSU country !! )

Spring is here and it's all wet!
We're not getting the ink, but much of Northern New Jersey is flooded, particularly the Passaic River basin, which is less than 1/2 mile from our house. It had all just abated then it rained all night, heavily, and is still raining.

Sunday, driving to see my mom along Rt 80, Rt 46 looked like a canal and houses and businesses were all in a new lake.

Knowing how much flooding is here led us to buy our house on a hillside, well above where the river floods.
