Default Spring is here with all it's green

I know spring is here because my pool has turned green in the matter of a week. I shut my pool down in late Nov. Winterized but left open. My plan was to bring back up April 1, but with algea already bloomed today is the day. I am going to raise water level today, Sams trip fro bleach and borax. I am just trying to get a clear idea of what I need to do. Do I need to get ph to 7.5 first of just start bleaching. At what point do i get my cya up? Really looking forward to my second year on the bbb method. Thanks for all your help.
almost forgot: 36,000 gal vinyl inground with sand filter I normally run my cya high due to living in deep south about 60 to 70 ppm
30000 gal 20*40 vinyl IG pool w/sand filter. ROLL TIDE

    Hi, and welcome back!!

The first thing you need to do is figure out your starting point--run a set of test numbers with a good, drop-based kit, or at a minimum take a sample to the pool store to get your numbers and then repost them here. If your pH is somewhere in the 7.0-7.6 range, then you'll need to leave it alone and start bleaching. If it
s below 7.0, then getting it back up will be a priority. As for bleaching, you really can't do that until you know your beginning CYA number--and CYA has been known to stay stable over a winter, and it has frequently been known to completely disappear and have to be re-added. So....get your starting point, and we can help you go from there!! (A little deeper south--LSU country !! )

Spring is here and it's all wet!
We're not getting the ink, but much of Northern New Jersey is flooded, particularly the Passaic River basin, which is less than 1/2 mile from our house. It had all just abated then it rained all night, heavily, and is still raining.

Sunday, driving to see my mom along Rt 80, Rt 46 looked like a canal and houses and businesses were all in a new lake.

Knowing how much flooding is here led us to buy our house on a hillside, well above where the river floods.
