    Default PVC fitting on filter

As stated on another thread, I had to do an emergency shut down when I found a leak on the pvc fitting from the backwash side of the filter. Now that the temp is in 70's I'm ready to reconnect and start the pump again. I unscrewed the connection and there is nothing behind it so I'm assuming the teflon tape was just old and I just need to add new tape and reconnect. Anthing else I need to think about, or am I missing something? Sometimes when things seem so simple...well you know!

Update: I rewrapped teflon tape on connection, got everything hooked back up and started filling the pool back up. As the water got back to skimmer level I sat and watched for leaks...now I know the real problem....the water is actually draining out the back flush hose not the connection! What does that mean??? I stopped filling the pool. Please help!!!
