    Default pressure too high

I took filter apart and cleaned everything but pressure starts out at 27psi and then goes to 30-31psi and the water stops moving. filter is clean. this a DE filter. pool turned green from lack of filtering. any ideas.

Better experts than I on here but it sounds like something is clogged.

Hopefully one of the experts in this area will be by soon, but I'm betting with Phillbo, sounds like something on the suction side is stopped up.

Sounds like a filter issue to me. DE grids have a tendency to cake up and clog especially if you are fighting an algae bloom. When you cleaned the filter, did you also soak the grids?

Also, a normal filter pressure of 27 PSI is a bit on the high side. Is that with solar? What size is your pump, filter and plumbing?

My DE normal pressure is around 12 psi.

If you wanted to check and see if it is the grids, take the grids out and put the filter back together, switch your valves to spa. Start the filter, bleed the air, and note the pressure.

Note: when you do this, you are likely to get a bunch of D.E. back to the pool. Thats why you switched the valves to spa, to keep the mess contained. When the filter is reinstalled, just drain the spa (draw from the spa, and return to the pool), and the filter will catch all the mess.
