    Default Vinyl Liner Wrinkles

Hello all - new member here and a new pool owner. We just bought the house 6 months ago and I've learned a ton already about pool care.

Two weeks ago we had a major flood in the area and the pool was full of mud and debris. After trying multiple things I decided to drain it for cleaning.

My incorrect assumption was that the wrinkles would go away once of the weight of the water returned. That was only partially true - we still have multiple areas with wrinkles now.

I checked the liner for any rips/leaks after draining and had to patch up one area. The wrinkles are not severe (no folding) but there are quite a few now.

After reading the forum it seems like I'm out of luck for now. I don't wait to drain the pool and refill again.

Any tips for smoothing things out? I've read about using a plunger or just working them out on a warm day. Just wanted to see if anyone had success with other methods.

    Thanks for your time

Hi and welcome to the forum. I moved the thread here which is more appropriate. Yes, people have used a plumbers plunger to dewrinkle but as I remember they do this with just a little water in the pool. Enough to prevent liner damage, maybe a foot. When you figure that with a foot of water the pressure on the liner is about 0.43 pounds per square inch, you may be able to move it. A few feet, you're over 1 psi so I don't think you'll move it. I got this from the weight of water being 62.4 pounds per cubic foot and 144 square inches in a square foot. 62.4 / 144 = .43 psi per foot of depth.
Others will chime in with ideas.
