Default Pool chlorine vs Clorox bleach tablets

I buy my pool tablets in bulk. They have 90% available chlorine. The tablets I buy in the grocery store for our toilet tanks are 37%. Can I use the pool tablets in our toilet tanks since the pool tablets are 1/3 of the cost?

I'll let the plumbers answer that but I expect that it will rot the rubber components faster.

No way. The acidity of the Trichlor along with the high chlorine levels will be corrode the metal and rubber in the tank. The chlorine tablets specifically designed for the tank use chlorine that is pH buffered to avoid such corrosion issues. The Clorox tablets have mostly BCDMH and DCDMH which are similar to bromine tablets for a spa but have both bromine and chlorine. They also include boric acid for some pH buffering.

Thank you very much. I suspected that they would be too caustic. I just wish that the Clorox tablets in my grocery isle were more affordable.

I found that even the chlorine based ones intended for toilets ("2000 Flushes") rotted the flapper out incredibly fast, so it wasn't worth it. Before you'd know it, the flapper would be leaking and the commode would be running all the time.
