I have a large "L-shaped" liner pool (48x18x28 or approximately 35K gallons) that is about 10 years old and I can see the first signs of liner wear and fade so I'm thinking it will need to be replaced in the next year or two. I do keep a close eye on the lip and have noticed several pull aways in the corners and certain areas but so far (knock on wood) I have been able to get them back in before they get too bad so who knows if I keep it up I may get more than 2 years out of it but either way I still want to be prepared when it happens.

In addition to this I have two sets of inground steps and one really needs to be replaced (fiberglass is bubbling) and if I'm draining the pool anyway this seems like a good time to do it.

So with the background set my question is:

Has anyone replaced their own liner with a pool this large? Like most here I have replumbed the pool, rewired the pool, installed a SWG, installed a loop-loc cover, etc. but just can not find anywhere where someone did their own liner so that leads me to believe its probably pretty difficult.

Secondly, I assume I will probably have to break up the existing concrete to replace the stairs but wonder if reinstalling and then attaching the new liner would be harder than I'm thinking?

Thanks.
