Default Help with 6 port valve - no PSI - pop up filters aren't working

Help from a newbie! The 6 Port Valve (Paramount Systems) I have for my pop up cleaners is giving me 0 for a PSI reading. So obviously none of the pop up cleaners are doing their job. Anyone have any insight on what a DIY might be able to look into before reaching out to a professional? Pool is 25K gallon.

    Thanks!

I don't know much about pop-up cleaners, but is the 6-port valve the one you use on your filter or another one? Is your regular valve able to backwash and filter your water normally? Is the system new and has never worked or did it once work and has stopped?

We'll need to know a little about how it's all plumbed.

    Darryl-

I was going to wait for someone with more knowledge, but here's my advice. I have the same valve on my pool.

You say 'obviously none of the pop up cleaners are doing their job', what isn't certain in your statement is that you've actually watched them for operation, are you sure the gauge isn't just broken and everything is still working anyway? I know that sounds stupid on my part, but just checking.

If you're a good diy'er, I wouldn't hesitate to advise you to take the top off and check inside. I take mine off regularly at the same time I clean my cartridges and clean it out. Some dirt still bypasses the filters and gets in there, it's not complicated really, and it may be that you could order a new internal module, or just replace a gear. Here's a link to a replacement module, it's just the first place I looked, you may find a better deal.

There may be something more complex going on, but this would be the first place I would check.

I have that system too. Agree - the guages aren't that great, and first thing to do is check for actual operation. Also, do you have normal returns in your deep end that turn on and off with the 6 port valve - you may not see in floor heads popping up, but it the water has to be returning somewhere and its probably those deep end returns.

If thats the case, your 6 port valve may need to be replaced. They only last ~5 years on average. They cost something like ~$125 to replace.

You can order replacement pressure gauges too from Paramount directly.
