Default Aqua Rite cell is bad

Been having issues with our Aqua Rite unit, the issue is reading accurite salt levels, cleaned the cell, scoured the Goldline website for info etc....

It is not reading the salt thus not genrtating chlorine, it shows the salt ppm at 2200, voltage at 30, no cell current, desired output at 100%, instant salt at 0,

Had it tested out salt is way high, my wife who is the pool keeper got carried away, it is at 5000ppm and yes i realize that is way hi, and will dilute it down.

Called Goldline, they where as much help as paper bag full of pool water. said to call a dealer, a little hard to call some one out when you repair industrial and commercial HVAC equipt for a living. All I wanted was some troubleshooting info.

Oh yah, the check salt and check cell light are on steady.

From what I gathered the cell appears to bad. The salt ppm reading has been goofy all spring, it read fine for awhile, but they way it was acting and all the rain made it appear out salt was getting diluted.

It is 4 yrs old, a little dissipointed on the life of the cell. What do you think bad cell?

Perhaps PoolSean or Waterbear can give you some guidance.

I am having the exact same problems. I just installed a new pcb board last week and everything was fine until two days ago when the instant salt reading was 200 but now I get a 0 reading on my instant salt. I went through the re-calibration steps but to no prevail. I also threw the breaker in hopes of a reset, no go. My unit is 5 years old and the guy at the pool store today told me that units in the Houston area get 2-3 years of life due to the 15 hrs of work at 100%. But you see I don't trust those guys in pool stores, that's why I am here. I really can't get an answer from Goldline either other than call a tech, not in this economy when I am just as capable if not more. Any help would be great. I am thinking an inline chlorinator might be the remedy!

Just like the unit will not work with too little salt, the unit will also not work with too much, and it may or may not give you a salt reading. Don't buy anything till you drain and dilute the pool to the proper salinity level (verify at your pool store that does not use test strips), then try again.

Note: Make sure you are not in a high water table area Before you drain.
