FC = 0.2ppm
CC = 0.2ppm
pH = < 7
- 6 Drops to 7.4/7.6
TA = 30ppm
CH = 120ppm
CYA = < 30ppm
What should I add first using the BBB method? How much?
Goo-less bleach I found was 8.25% - Borax - Baking Soda in hand.

Bleach first! Get up to about 3ppm at sundown (or when the sun is not shining on the pool). pH is next, add a box of 20 Mule Team Borax ASAP. Less than 7 might mean 3. Low pH can damage your pool. Dose with borax, wait 2 hrs, test, redose, repeat, till pH is ABOVE 7.
Also, it looks like you are using 25ml samples rather than10ml. Each drop in a 25 ml sample is .2ppm. Each drop in a 10 mil sample = .5ppm. 10ml samples are plenty accurate for the purpose of maintaining your pool.
Enjoy your pool!
A couple more comments to add to what Pappy has already told you:
It is ok to add the bleach and then borax one right after the other with no issue.
Another reason to use the 10mL sample instead of the 25mL one is that it will make your reagents last longer.
Thank you both for your prompt replies!
I added a jug (3.44qt) of 8.25% bleach and a box of borax this morning. I'll do the 10ml samples tonight and let you know where I'm at!
Just an FYI: I did a drain and fill on memorial weekend because of the excessive amount of leaves in the pool due to a temporarily broken pump. I also tore down the DE filter and inspected / cleaned all the grids. The pool was filled with my city water and I've just had trichlor tabs floating while I waited on my test kit.
Good deal.
Performed the FC test and after 4 scoops of the powder it didn't even remotely turn pink. So instead of wasting my reagents I decided to just put another jug of bleach in.
Tested the pH and it is now 7.8 or 8.0
How long should I wait for the pool to circulate before I test for FC again? From the videos I saw it should start turning pink almost instantly... should I put more scoops in when I'm testing?
If it doesn't turn pink with two scoops, stop adding powder. It means you don't have chlorine. (Also, if it turns pink with one scoop of powder, you don't have to add the second one.)
Wait 3 or 4 hours before retesting to let it circulate well.
Tested it again this morning - didnt turn pink. Put in another jug of bleach. Tested tonight and it turned pink!
FC = 5ppm
CC = 5.5ppm
Looks like I should be good on chlorine - I'm going to pick up some OTO tests to do daily checks. From what I read I should keep it between 3-6ppm.
Re-tested pH and it's still either 7.8 or 8
I did the acid test to see how high it was and it only took 1 drop before it went down to 7.4 so I don't think I need to mess with it.
My thoughts now are that I need to add CYA to the pool and just keep tabs on the pH and Chlorine and make sure they don't drop.
Right?
Your chlorine numbers don't look right. At least I hope they aren't right because you certainly don't want a CC reading of 5.5!
How did you get that reading? After you got your FC reading, did you add the 5 drops of R-0003 and then again, add drops of R-0871 til it turned clear? How many drops did it take to clear it?
Have you watched the testing demo videos? http://pool9.net/K2006-vid/
It should probably say FC = 5ppm, CC = 0.5ppm, TC = 5.5ppm
Yes, that's what I did, took 1 drop to clear after the R-0003.
