salt level issue with Hayward Aqualogic
I have a hayward aqualogic AQL-ps-8. The system reads a salt level of 3400 but an independent test shows and actual level of 2600. Therefore it just won't produce chlorine. I just replaced the chlorinator this week with a brand new cell.
Is there a way to reset the salt level on this system? I can't figure it out and am getting disillusioned.
thanks in advance for any help.
Re: salt level issue with Hayward Aqualogic
Hi Chuck;
Your issue is apparently not uncommon with those units. However, given that you put in a new cell, my first suspicion would be with your salt test . . . so how -- exactly -- did you test?
It matters because the most common salt test (AquaChek) is not only easy to mis-read, it is ALSO individually calibrated, and people often use old charts with new sets of strips!
What's more, the difference between your two readings (2600 vs 3400) is WITHIN the ERROR RANGE of most tests.
By FAR the easiest solution is to give the AquaLogic what it wants . . . and add more salt. Is there a reason why you do not want to do this?

Upgraded membership and moved thread to the salt system section. You may need to log out and back in to see everything.
PS.You can search use Google to search multiple pool sites, using Google's 'advanced search operators" to limit your search to specific sites. This page of mine will create the search links for you. Google knows my site -- and all the others -- much better than those sites internal search functions! And, if you need to post pictures -- of your pool, filter, pump, piping, what-not -- there are instructions on this page
