Portion Of Pool Burried

Its kind of late to be asking since my pool is 4yrs old, but I had my pool installed by the pool store. My yard was not level so they had to dig down as much as 18inches is spots to level it out. Once it was up I back filled and wanting to keep the yard the same level I backfilled as much as a foot in some spots. After reading here I see that backing filling that much is a big no no.

So what kind of problems will I be facing down the road? Is it true that this also voids the warranty?

You might be ok.
We had to do the same thing you did. Dig into a hill to find level.
When we bought ours a few months ago, the sales lady told us we could bury the pool up to 2feet and the warranty would still be good.
Do you still have the manual that came w/ your pool? You could call them and ask.

The manual is vague on the warranty aspect, theres even a seperate warranty sheet that says nothing about barrying a portion of the pool. I checked at the pool store (litehouse) and they said it would void the warranty but "they stand behind their customers" - wonder if they will say that in 10 yrs.
Guess we'll find out in time.

Most AGP's are not supposed to be buried below the surface. That being said, quite a few people bury them and have few problems. I buried mine but covered the part the sits below ground level with roofing tar.

It only stands to reason that the pool will not last as long buried under ground, where it will be in contact with moisture as it would above ground. I was willing to sacrafice a year or two on the lifetime of the pool to have it not stand out in my yard.

With the pool buried 2.5 feet, my deck is now only 2 feet above ground level.

I could see a potentially life/finances ruining problem if a neighborhood kid is able to climb into your pool and drownd now that the top is lower than what the local codes allow.

Is the pool fenced in?

Yes, the entire deck is fenced off, so really no different than an in ground pool. I have 48" rails around the entire deck. Add the 2 feet where the top of the deck is closet to ground and you have the equivalent to a 6 foot fence.

Sorry it took so long, but here are pictures of the pool and deck. I'm having some algae problems right now so the water is kind of cloudy.

I've still got a bit of work to do on the deck, like framing out the underside, putting lattice up for additional storage and some staining but it's pretty much finished.

My deck posts are set well below the frost line so I don't expect any heave on the deck. The pool, being buried 2+ feet in the ground hasn't moved over the past 2 winters (I measured several times a week against a fixed point on the house) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I wont have any problems with the rails sitting on the deck surface.

Your deck looks fantastic, its pretty close to how I want to finish mine. Can you tell me if you got the plans off line or did you do them your self - Im really interested in how you did the rounded portion around the back.
