Its all worth it....

All the work, the worry and the expenses of putting in a new AG pool seem overwhelming until days like today....

Our kids had a few friends over for our oldest boys' birthday - crystal clear water and installed with confidence courtesy BBB and the Poolforum folks!

I've got to say thanks to everyone here who helped us get where we were today - IN THE POOL!!!

Great pics! What is BBB? I haven't even thought about chemicals yet. I will have to get something started this weekend. We are filling the pool tomorrow, but don't have the electric set up yet. Hopefully this weekend we'll have that done and everything working. I'm sure by Saturday my water will be a mess after sitting for 3 days with no filtering.

Until our perm pool electric was connected and the pool filled, we ran an extension cord (I know, I know) over and used old pump/filter set ups from old pools and hung the hoses over the side. We used plenty of bleach as we started so we could get ahead of the game as far as algae -

BBB is the "Holy Trinity" here at the Pool Forum and the easiest, cheapest and most sure fire way to keep your pool clean and clear with only a few minutes of time a day. Bleach, Borax and Baking Soda....and a good drops based test kit....and lots of help from the folks here.

Chin up, I was in your place about a month ago, wondering if there was any light at the end of the tunnel. There is a happy ending to all the work and its your family splashing in the pool on a hot day very soon... : )

My oldest future step son had a few friends over week end before last and they had a ball. Had about 15 kids in the pool counting me and the girl friend. I think we were the biggest kids there. Untill that point I had questioned if it was worth the investment and trouble of keeping it clean. The kids having fun and the basics I have learned here makes me smile.:D Walked out this evening and sat by the pool before work and the sparkling waves were very relaxing. I needed that.
This forum and the BBB method works.

NWMNMom -- I am also running an ext cord but I used a 10 gauge untill I can get my pump moved and hard wired. I grounded every thing I could back to the house and plugged in to a GFI. You have a very nice pool. I am getting pool envy. How is the solar heating workin for your pool? Thinking about it for next year.

Thank you on the pool compliment, we LOVE our pool.

BTW, the solar heating is a must and not optional here in NWMN or there would be a lot of pool maintc and very little pool use (unless you are very brave) Right now we are holding right around 84-87 degrees. Our nights have been as cool as 46 degrees - just last night - but the days have all been mid 70s to low 80s so we feel we are getting good use of the panels. We wouldn't get anywhere with them without the solar cover to hold it all in during these cool nights!

Where in NWMN are you ? I went to jr college in Fergus Falls and Wahpeton ND. I can understand the need for a heater.

We are way up north and a bit east, between Grand Forks and the Canadian Border...the big joke is that we are so cold up here most of the time, our college students (UND) start sunbathing when it hits 35 degrees (some of them do at 45 - no lie!) We had 49 degrees yesterday morning and 84 for the daily high. Go figure! Our season are winter, melting, getting ready for winter and as good as winter....

My pool is for me, my wife, my kids, their friends, our friends, our family, etc. I even have a little one who's turning into quite the water bug! Thank goodness for the Pampers Splashers!!!!
