high PH
Hey guys. I just left the pool store and here are the test results. Taylor kit is in its way!
Cya 60 (was ~150 last year)
TC 10
Fc 9.3
Ta 145
Ph >8.8
They wanted me to get lowandslo to get the ph down. Should I just use the acid (dry) that I already have instead?

Re: high PH
Yes. Just use the acid you already have. If those numbers are correct, it means you have a CC reading of 0.7 which means you would need to shock the pool up to about up to about 20 for a pool with CYA reading of 60. How does your water look. Have you recently had any algae blooms or let your cl drop below 5ppm?
Your TA is also high. Take a look at the following thread.

Re: high PH
Its cloudy and green. I just opened it.
Its a liner pool. 35000 gal.

Re: high PH
Keep the chlorine at shock level and run the pump 24/7 to clear it up. Don't use any stabilized forms of chlorine (trichlor or dichlor). You do not want your CYA any higher than where it is now.

Re: high PH
after I add the acid - how long should I wait to add more chlorine? Can I do them around the same time?
-
Re: high PH
You don't want them to mix, in concentrated form is the general answer.
"An hour" would be a reasonable specific answer that should keep you safe . . . as long as the pump is running during that hour.

Re: high PH
Awesome - thanks guys.
Also - Ben can I have a few more privs? I don't see any sigs and had to hunt for the Amazon link to buy the kit so you get the contribution towards the site. I'll even try to click through that to buy other stuff too so you can get that referral bonus.

Re: high PH
Doug,
I'm not sure why you can't see our signature lines. I've asked Ben to look into this. We would be delighted to have you order the kit through our Amazon link! Thanks!

Re: high PH
I did find one on Pool Solutions and ordered, but like I said I order a bunch on Amazon and would love to contribute that way and as I learn this stuff from you awesome, awesome people I hope to contribute by passing the knowledge on down. Today at the pool store I told a guy waiting in line that I use household bleach and he was like "huh? what? really??" Also told him that "shock" is a verb. :-)

Re: high PH
And did you get the ------ "Won't that bleach out your liner" question? We've all heard it and seen the looks of disbelief MANY times. Kinda funny isn't it?
