Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
Yesterday, my builder and his plumbers came out to re-do the plumbing around the equipment pad.
It's kind of hard to see, but, if you look closely at one of the equipment photos I posted earlier, they had installed the heater right in front of a window.
That's a no-no.
They shifted everything to the right and installed the salt cell in the proper place in the flow path. I like the new arrangement. It leaves me some open space on the pad, which is why I wanted such a big pad in the first place.
I need to call the builder to confirm this, but I believe they also left the capped-off pipe for possible future installation of a pressure-side cleaner below grade. If that is in fact what they did, that's pretty nifty.
Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
The vent off the heater has to be at least 48" from the window - if it is a window that can be opened. If it is, say rain glass from your bathroom, that is permanently sealed, then you can put it there - at least that is what I was told. Ours is over 4' away from the house, so I was in the clear there.
Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
The plaster guys came out yesterday to scrape down the pool/spa walls and clean out all of the garbage that had accumulated on the bottom of each.
I can actually see the main drains in the spa! It's been a while...
The decking pour is tentatively scheduled for tomorrow - if it doesn't rain too much today and it doesn't rain tomorrow.
I'm fighting the odds, I'm afraid.

Don't listen to the weather forecasters. You know how good they are in the Houston area. You are better off consulting your lucky plastic eight ball. Look's like between you, me, and Sean our pools should be finished at about the same time. Good luck and enjoy. :D

I'm a little bit behind you cats.
Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
Yep. They came and did the pool clean-up for me today too. I was hoping they were going to plaster as well, but when I looked outside, they had gone. And now, of course, it's raining. :(
Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
I'm trailing you guys, but at least my decking is just a one-day affair.
Maybe I can make it up there. :p
Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
If the forecast holds, we pour the deck this Saturday.
To paraphrase Kevin Costner in Tin Cup, I think this calls for "a nod to the gods".

Get that rain dance going. It worked for me. I will do a little extra one for you as well. I need some dry weather so I can plant all of these plants my wife bought. Keep us posted. Good Luck. :D
Re: eljefe281's (Jeff's) pool project
It'll happen. I was good all along, but started getting anxious here the last couple of weeks, mostly just because I want my yard back.
Is your plaster scheduled too?
They came and got all of our equipment running today and the landscaping is in. I can't wait to get home and see it all. I've got the gas company coming tomorrow. Apparently we need a larger meter for the heater - $250. The upside is we should be in the spa tomorrow night!
