I agree. 90 is bath water, not refreshing. Mid 80s is a much more pleasant water temp.

They are putting a Trex walkway in along the water

What's that?
Are you adding a dock of sorts?
I am calling it a walkway. On the other side of the low wall a feeding dock will be built so my wife can feed the ducks and Nutrias. There will be a floating ramp that will lead up to the dock.
I was wondering if that critter in one of your pics was a nutria. Are the common around there?
They are putting the Caps on the perimeter walls and you can see the whistler ducks taking a break. Also the tree that my wife uses to feed the birds

Any pictures of that?
. . . how are you gonna keep them out of your pool?
I say that because my wife and I were swimming in a large mountain stream several years ago . . . until we discovered the bottom was COVERED with 'deposits' from another large rodent: beaver!
You might also want to investigate what human pathogens your ducks (what species are they?) and nutria may carry. Beaver notoriously carry Giardia, which is very, very chlorine resistant.
You may also want to consider replacing or supplementing your existing filter with a large DE filter. DE filtration will remove many pathogens and most protozoan cysts (like Giardia). Another option is to regularly treat your pool with polyquat (http://pool9.net/polyquat/) since it is a weak supplemental biocide, but an strong filter aid, and will enhance sand or cartridge filters capture rate on pathogens.
Pooldoc,
Thanks for your thoughtful suggestions. The Nutria will not have access to the backyard pool. All those concrete retaining walls we put up will keep them out. When the yard is done I have some wildlife friendly deterrents that hopefully will keep ducks and other critters away from areas we don't want them in. Things like motion sensors in portable sprinklers heads I can move around, that activate and spray. A wolf silhouette with a moving tail, floating alligator head that you anchor in the water (geese hate alligators). And of course I have these girls.

Dogs may well work. Enthusiastically, even. ;)
My dogs sure are enthusiastic!

The feeding dock is done. Now the Nutria and ducks have a feeding station. Stainless steel post and cable still needs to be installed along the boardwalk.

Your pool is beautiful but ......ewwwww! You want to feed those rodents?? Hope I'm not offending you........ but I am just not a critter kinda gal. Ben knows. I'm even having a hard time looking at your pics! It's giving me the heeby jeebies. If they were near my pool...... I wouldn't be!!:eek::eek::eek:
BEN---- Why didn't you warn me not to look??? You're slacking!!!! :p
I am not offended at all. They are isolated from the back yard and the pool. There will also be a gate that will be the last barrier. They are part of the wildlife vista that we have. Actually their are coats made from Nutria hair. See how they hold the tortillas in their little paws.
And don't forget, I have the girls

We are now in the 11th and final month of our transformation. I say final month because here is what we have left to do: Final landscaping has started with some of the Cuban palm trees already planted. They have 50% of the plantings on site, with the remainder of the plantings and the grass yet to come. The kitchen and granite counter tops need to be finished, landscape lighting (99 light fixtures), Sunbrite TV, 12 outdoor speakers and 1 buried sub-woofer, outdoor fans, closing up both openings in the stucco block wall and the stone on the columns, travertine skimmer covers, 4 Mahogany gates are being built (2 eight feet wide and 2 three feet) wide and some other stone that will be put on the house.
This is the very first picture I took before we started the project

Once you get it all done, you definitely need to get some more drone shots!
Wow... this is truly inspiring! Hope you're enjoying your incredible creation.
Also, I'm not a big fan of tile designs in pool but yours looks great.
The landscaping is really coming together.

So.... Since the crane was here anyways...... my wife and I had talked about moving the lions. She always thought that we needed something on the pillars at the end of the infinity edge. We found out the lions weigh over 900lbs. apiece. The pool builder had said "I'll get a bunch of guys and we'll get it up there". I told him "no way, someone would get killed". That's when I thought the weighed 500lbs. If you remember this is where they were...

cool.
I hope you're going to post pictures of people using it!
Now why would I do that?
Up to you, of course.
But pools with people look life fun, rather than just 'things'.
It does say "pool construction and repair" not frolicking and enjoying your pool. "Things" need to be done and purchased.
I agree BigDave, I think the last thing you want to see are slightly overweight middle-aged folks in a pool
That's, sadly, exactly what I see :o.
Actually, if I imagined myself at the pool, I'd either be behind the grill, or in the lake in a canoe touring my younger nieces and nephews, or taking pictures. That's usually my role, now: cooking or teaching or photographing. Even since I became a lifeguard instructor (20+ years ago, now), I can't actually relax around swimmers of unknown (or worse: poor) skill levels.
The ones I'd imagine IN the pool would be my sons and their families or friends, and my nieces and nephews.
We've gotten a new canoe to take to my wife's family reunion, so I expect I'll spend a lot of my time teaching with it. We've been taking kayaks for about 15 years, but those are more intuitive, for very easy water. Canoes, even on flat water, take some skills. We hope to work up to 4 canoes in a few years, but I need to train some people, first. We'll also be testing using a UV lamp and a big sheet to collect moths (the reunion is in the woods, on the Ocoee river), so next year, when the mass of 4th generation kids will be back, we'll be ready.
