Glad your CC's are coming down; that's good. If you can see a swimmer in trouble, you can swim at FC of 12 but wear old suits. Keep it at 12 as often as you can.

at 4pm ...getting better, fc=5.5 cc=.5, adding more bleach
Maybe you can check in a half hour and make sure you hit 12.
fc= 9.5 cc=.5, i will add a little more
Is there a date code on that bleach? Like a 5 digit number that has a 16 in it?
16145
Okay. So it was bottled on May 24. That's fine. You're storing it out of the sun, right?
I just would think that if you're aiming for 12 and only get 9 a half hour later, either the bleach is off or your pool is REALLY hungry!
How are your reagents holding out?
I think it's a hungry pool, reagents are good. I have been buying bleach everyday, so no need to store it very long but it's in the house. I will test again tonight, restocked my Taylor kit from Amazon last week.
Glad you have plenty of reagents. I think it might be a good idea to test after you add tonight so that you are sure you hit 12 for the overnight hours where the shock level FC can really work hard without fighting the sun.
It's at 12 now , I'll check in the morning again thanks
Yay!!!
morning reading....FC 9 CC 0, I can see the drain but its not crystal clear, I will add more bleach, getting better , THANKS
That's good news. Thanks! Hang in there!!!
pool looks better at 530 pm,
FC 8.5 CC= .5
PH 7.2 ALk 60
cya 30
I will add more bleach, should I add any borax or baking soda?
No, don't add the other b's. Just keep adding bleach. Your numbers are improving!
ok thanks
morning numbers.... FC 9 CC .5 The pool looks good, i can see the drain clearly , I will backwash tonight and put the robot in also.
I will have to add a jacks blue stuff for metal soon, steps are starting to look discolored but i can deal with that.
I am out of bleach so i will test again after work and add more then. We still want it to be at 12 for now,, correct?
Can't thank you enough!
Great news!
Yes, keep the FC at 12 until you pass an overnight test. Do you know how to do that?
What kind of metals do you have? The blue stuff is mostly for copper.
Ok, I will get it back to 12, and test it every day.
when they test for metal it never shows, but whenever i shock the pool its an issue. so i really dont know what kind of metal.
It was worse years ago, I think the culator bags have helped and now I know what to do when it stains.
Twice a day minimum... Do you know about the overnight test?
Let's talk more about metals later.
Ill test it tonight and then again in the morning to see if it holds?
You make your last addition of the night and then an hour later, test the FC. The reason for the second test is that additions may not hit exactly your goal and testing MOE. Then in the morning within a half-hour of sunrise, test FC and CC. If you lose 1ppm FC or less, your CC's are 0.5 or less, and your water is super clear, you pass and are done shocking. Some people keep the levels up and do an additional overnight test. Up to you.
I am not sure you're there yet because you probably lost 3ppm last night, but if you don't mind getting up early, go for it!
ok I will give it a try, is it ok to add a sequestering agent
Jack's Ble is mostly for copper. The pink is more all-purpose.
overnight test showed I lost 3, FC was 10 at night so I added bleach and tested an hour later ,I added too much i guess... it was 15, then early morning showed it was 12, pool is clear CC .5
I will do another overnight test tonight.
steps are very brown and liner slightly discolored from metal, I will try adding Metal Magic ProTeam today , I can get it at a local store, it has worked in the past. The Jacks Stuff I can get from Amazon but it takes a few days.
We are having an electric heater installed this week because he pool never gets above 76, so I am treating myself. Looking forward to a good summer!
thanks !
Okay then. You know what to do! After you add the Metal Magic and pass your overnight test, you may want to try the towel method here: http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthr...about-it/page2
Yes that's amazing, I bought skimmer socks which work well also. I will keep you posted, thanks
How do you know its metal staining and not dead algae? When you have an algae problem, it would be normal for some brown to accumulate in the bottom as it dies from the high FC levels.
it lifts with a vitiman c tablet
Pool is clear and stains are gone today. thanks , i will keep trying to maintain it, I will post numbers later
If it lifts with vitamin C, it's iron. I'm glad the stains came up! The iron is now still in the pool, it's just suspended in the water.
Once you pass that overnight test, you can try using some cal-hypo added directly to the skimmer as your chlorine source occasionally. It may help remove some of the suspended iron onto your filter and then it will backwash out. The towel trick will help too. You may find that doing those two things will reduce the iron in the water and allow you to use less sequestrant down the road unless your "utility" refill water is high in iron.
good to know, I will get some today
my FC and CC are the same this morning as last night, I have not tried to get it back to shock level since I have slight metal stain in shallow end of liner. Pool is clear, steps are white, skimmer socks are yellow, sequestering agent is working. I think I need to add ph today.
FC 5 CC .5 or less, ph 7 alk 50 cya 35
How is it going?
pool looks beautiful, I will keep you posted, thanks!
Excellent!!! You are welcome!
