We did the deck on our own, with no plans. Once we placed the pool, I took spray paint and sprayed the general layout of the deck on the ground. That gave me a good idea of how much space I would actually have.
The "round part" is not really round. We simply put a deck post at every pool support, measured out 4 feet from that post and planted the outer post in the ground. Although each section is straight, the end result looks round, much like the rails on a pool.
Re: Portion Of Pool Burried
Quick question on your deck. How close is the bottom of the floor board to the top of the skimmer basket. Im going to be finishing my deck this weekend and from a preliminary look, it looks like my boards will be about an inch above the basket. This kind of worries me that a board will have some play and crack the skimmer.
Thanks
John
Re: Portion Of Pool Burried
My skimmer basket is a couple inches below the decking. I cut out the decking above the basket and add two pieces of wood to the bottom of that decking to hold it together and maintain proper spacing.
I then screw in support pieces underneath the deck to support the wood I cut out.
See the pics below and it will make more sense. I've had a couple of decks and always solved the skimmer issue this way. Kids will run across the skimmer and this method ensures that there wont be any accidents. It looks good too. :)
