Re: High cya cloudy pool
Yes, the only way to lower CYA is to do a partial drain and refill.
My guess for the cloudiness is that you are on the verge of an algae bloom from not having enough chlorine in the pool for your CYA level.
Don't use any forms of chlorine other than bleach.

Re: High cya cloudy pool
I have been keeping my chlorine at shock levels to clear out algae. Texting from a Taylor k2006 reading as follows
FC 24
Cc .4
Ph unsure
Alk 50
Cya 60
The algae is starting to clear up however it's cloudy. Since the CL was so high I couldn't accurately test the ph so I mixed half tap half pool water and the ph read 7.4
Can anyone advise me on how to accurately test? And what to do to to rid of the cloudy water?
Appreciate the help in advance

Re: High cya cloudy pool
You are not going to be able to test pH until your chlorine level drops. By the way, use the 10ml sample instead of the 25ml sample so your testing reagents will last longer. Keep the chlorine high while it is cloudy and run your pump 24/7 to let the filter do its job. And, have patience. It takes time to clear up a cloudy pool.
(Do you have this very same question posted elsewhere on the forum? i'm pretty sure I answered this exact question before.:confused:)
