Re: Oops! Operator Error!
Dave,
Simply go to any pool store and buy an underwater patch kit--if they have a clerk with half a brain, he/she may have just the glue you use. If not, it doesn't hurt to have patch material. It is EXACTLY the perfect glue--you can use a piece of liner, and if there's a pattern, match the pattern. Cut the patch with well-rounded corners, and apply the glue only to it. Since it's dry, I'd outline the patch on the liner with a SOFT pencil first while it's dry. Underwater, you don't have this luxury.
Work the patch so there's no bubbles--the edges are the most critical part. If you have a little rubber roller like a tile fitter uses, that does a really nice job.
The patch should be a lot larger than the hole.
Hope this helps! Anybody who's done patching (I've only done it underwater...BRRRRR!...and it's REALLY messy! ) add in, correct me if need be...
Re: Oops! Operator Error!
Thanks, Carl,
Yeah, I'm glad it's a dry patch. I appreciate your help. I'll head down there as soon as they open :)
Re: Oops! Operator Error!
I mentioned this in the R.I.P. forum a couple times. When I had to do a deep end patch last year I investigated a lot of adhesives. All the patch kits used some glue that would aggressively attack the material and curl the patch before it could be applied. At least in my case 8' deep. Found a glue by Boxer Adhesives (#100) that is a slow acting glue and seems to work quite well. Doing a patch above water definitely has its benefits. One year later no peeling of corners or other problems. Here's the link.

Re: Oops! Operator Error!
Hi, Al,
Thanks!! This was sort of an emergency so I had to buy whatever they had at Leslie's for today. (seemed to do an okay job up to this point) I will order some of the Boxer and keep it on hand for my next disaster!!:)
Re: Oops! Operator Error!: I second Boxer's
Just want to second the recommendation for Boxer's adhesive. Joie
