I just had a 24' x 52" AGP installed. It was a used pool but looks practically new and the guy that installed did a fantastic job, amazingly level, but I don't have any 'manuals'.
It has a sand filter with 1hp pump. Is it supposed to run 24/7 or do most people turn it off at night? Or on a timer?
This is my opinion, others will vary. Only under certain circumstances, like trying to clean up a mess, 24/7 is a waste of money. When people are in it, run the system. Otherwise try and run a few hours a day to circulate and clean. Also run it a couple hours after adding any chemicals. Experiment with electric $$$ in mind and you'll soon figure what works for you. A timer adds a bit of automation and you'll find it useful. Good luck with your new pool.

My pump is on a timer, I only run it 6 hours a day.
I believe the spec's on my pump say I can filter the entire contents of my pool in 4 hours.
During the winter I run my filter 4hrs a day, in the swimming season, 6hrs a day.
You want to run it long enough to turn over your water at least once a day. Have you checked the internet to see if you can find specs on your pump?
During the summer I turn my pool on when I get up in the morning and turn it off around dinnertime until the hottest part of the summer--then I turn it on when going to bed and off when I get up in the morning, to help cool off the water.

Regarding the pump, I can't seem to find the exact specs online.
It's a Turbo King which I have found on the 'net is made by Pentair. But the numbers I see on the pump don't match up with their models.
I don't have all the numbers in front of me that I have searched for, but I remember one sticker on the pump says: model 227T
