Problem with SWG after installing new pump

I have a five year old inground pool and had a 1.5 hp Jacuzzi Magnum Force Pump that just died. My husband replaced it with a Pentair super flow 1.5 hp and the Aquarite is now blinking and not generating and the box is very hot. We turned off the SWG and I googled the problem and got somehow on a page that mentioned a different wiring with Pentair. I cannot bring this page back up. I have called Aqua-Rite and they want to send a service call from a pool co and won't give any technical support. Anybody have any suggestions before we spend the money on a service call?

Which light is blinking on the Aquarite? I'm guessing that it's the red 'no flow' led - is the pump moving water back into the pool? The 'no flow' should blink for 1 minute when the pump first comes on, then turn off if the unit senses flow. Check the flow switch to be sure it's oriented correctly (there's an arrow on it to show which way the flow goes)

I know you would have had to wire up the new pump, when doing so, did you change the power to the Aquarite?

Sorry to answer a question with more questions, but I'm trying to figure out what could have caused this FWIW - if you called the company I work for, it'd be me showing up in your back yard;)

Husband says he did not change any wiring to the SWG- all red lights are blinking now after all green lights blinking at first. Usually when this occurs, I add more salt- put in 2 bags yesterday-only blinking red lights

Well after being a little critical of Pool Pilot's tech service (somewhat robotic at lower levels) at least they did try to walk me through the wiring, which they explained clearly and correctly. This took 10 minutes of their time. You should try to get to a higher level tech at Aquarite.

In defense of Aquapure I had to call Aquapure (Jandy) for my neighbour and they were understanding and helpful and even thought of some other way I had never heard of in resolving their issue - it did. It might be good if you give them calls at different times of the day and try to reach different techs you may get better results with someone else. I just realized it was Aquarite not Aquapure, but I will leave it in here for info's sake, my apologies I was having a "Senior Moment".

Be super polite, if they still will not help you post it here so others may decide whether or not they wish to stay clear of their product. And let them know that is what you are doing; that might help you get some attention.

I think Waste might be correct, it sounds like the flow; it was for me.

That issue could be related to you having a voltage problem either at the box or an incorrect gauge of wire is being used to the pump this could cause the heat issue. Ask the pump manufacturer what gauge wire are you supposed to use and give them the length of run to the fuse box. Also what size fuse do they require?

Is your pump and Aquarite on the same fuse? If so that is not ideal or possibly bad, make sure all equipment at the pool, lights, heater etc. have their own fuse. It might be best to get a "good" electrician and turn off the SWG and use the BBB method so you do not damage the electrics of the Aquapure until solved. HEAT can be very bad.

Make sure you give the electrician both the Aquapure and pump installation manuals BEFORE he/she visits your home so that they can study the interfaces. This will speed up the resolution. Have this person measure the voltage at the the pump and Aquarite to make sure they are not dropping off/down or even too high, although that would be unusual. Oh, by the way tell your hubby NOT TO USE A MULTIMETER he could seriously SHOCK himself, especially if he has been watching too much of the DIY network.

Is there a reboot button? I believe on Aquapure they like to be at 0% production for 24 hours after installation, could that be it with Aquarites, are they kissing cousins?

Finally if your electrician cannot find an electrical issue your hubby might have accidently shorted something on the Aquapure. So you will have to go shopping again. I know we men never make mistakes but occasionaly a small minor, minor error slips by us - despite what we husbands say. I think George Bernard Shaw once said, or wrote, something like this "Women would be perfect if they could be just be more like men". Perhaps you are thinking the opposite?
