I have never had this much trouble before!
Got everything cleaned out of the pool, been vacuuming. My chlorine is at shock level, my alk is 200 and my ph is 8.0. What do I do now? My pool is a very very light shade of green. Been filtering 24/7 since the 6th and I cannot get it clear. Can someone please help me? I got three very anxious and impatient children waiting to swim. Ty.

I even changed out my sand, thinking after 6 years it was worn out. I did that yesterday.
Re: I have never had this much trouble before!
CYA is 30, which is good I reckon.

If you could post a full set of test results and some info on your pool it would make things easier to try and help you. Telling us your chlorine is a 'shock level' is really pretty meaningless.

TC 5.6
FC 5.3
TA 200
CA 190
pH 8.0
Thanks, I feel pretty meaningless lately too dealing with this pool.

"shock level" for CYA=30 is between 10 and 15, not 5.3. See the "Best Guess table"
Your pH is too high. Get it down to the mid 7's before you add chlorine, THEN shock it to 10+ and keep it there. pH of 8 makes it very hard for your chlorine to work.

One other thing, your TA is too high. See the sticky in the alk forum for directions on lowering it. Aim for 80-100.
Re: I have never had this much trouble before!
Thanks a lot. My pH today is reading 7.8- 8.0 still. Do I need to filter or recirculate?

Aim for 7.2 to 7.5--your chlorine will be a lot more effective then. But you STILL need to shock up your chlorine to proper levels to kill the bio-matter.
