Pump Basket Debris Draining back into pipe

Hey all,

When I take my pump basket lid off the pump all (most) of the debris gets sucked back into the pipe and I can't get it out. Soon as I put the lid back on and start it up all the debris returns to the basket and the pump and pool operate as it should.

This is especially troubling as current a frog has somehow bypassed my skimmer basket and is doing summersaults in my pump basket. Evertime I turn of my pump and just as soon as I open the lid everything is sucked back into the pipe.

This has never done this before and I don't know what to do.

Poor frog!! Turn off the pump, but before opening the pump basket, close the valves that control the suction from the skimmers AND close the valves for the returns - that way there's no where for the water to go when you break to vaccuum on opening the pump basket.

And don't forget to open them all again when once you've cleaned out the basket (Froggy RIP) before you turn the pump back on.

I will try and do that they are all electronic but I think there is a manual switch.

What would make this start doing this all of the sudden?
