opened to green pool
So sad, I opened my pool yesterday and it is full of algae. I've been doing the BBB method for the last 4 years and have always opened to sparkling water. Oh well.....
Here are my numbers:
FC .2
TC .2
CC 0
TA 99
pH 7.7
CYA 17
above ground vinyl, 8200 gallons
My plan is to lower the pH to 7.2 and then start dumping in bleach to keep it at shock level until the FC holds. Does that sound right? I am going to put some stabilizer in a sock and hang it over the return valve - when should I do that?
Any other pieces of advice?
We were hoping to swim this weekend :insert sad face here:

Re: opened to green pool
Your plan sounds right -- maintain it at shock level. Test and dose it with bleach 3 times a day and run your pump 24/7 while you are trying to clear the water. Don't worry about the stabilizer right now. You can add it once you get your water cleaned up.
It's only Monday. You may be able to swim by the weekend if you really stay on top of maintaining shock levels. Keep your fingers crossed! And, there is no reason you have to only dose it 3 times a day. If you are home and can do it more, then do it. It will only serve to clear the pool quicker.

Just to add to what Watermom said, if you'll brush the pool at least once daily, it'll help keep the algae more exposed to the bleach, and also keep it stirred up where your filter can get it faster.
