Does a DE Filter help reduce chlorine use

Does a DE Filter help reduce chlorine use and help with higher ORP numbers?

Where I live the average wind speed is 16 mph to 20 mph year round.
This means that a lot of red volcanic dust is blown over the pool daily.
The pool is covered at sunset until 8am. We have a sand filter installed for twelve years and maintained the pool with BBB.

Recently switched to SWG and now see the ORP fluctuating from a high of 700 end of day to 600 at the start. This indicated that the load on the pool created daily might benefit from a DE filter, any opinions?
