Eliminate booster pump for cleaner with 2 speed pump?

Has anyone successfully eliminated the cleaner booster pump by using a 2 speed or multi-speed main circulation pump like the Pentair Intelliflo or 4x160? I have a Jandy controller for programing the operation of the Polaris 280 cleaner that now uses a 3/4 HP motor. My 15,000 gal pool/spa uses a 2 HP single speed motor that is 9 years old and will need replacing soon. Why not use a high efficiency multi-speed motor and let the Jandy controller switch the valves and switch the speeds to suit the pool/spa/cleaner mode? Perhaps a new motorized valve would be needed in cleaner mode.
