Sand in my pool
We have found a little sand in our pool just about every day. Not a lot, but maybe a 1/2 teaspoon. I have not vacuumed it yet (we use our Polaris all the time) and maybe after I vaccuum it will be gone (wishful thinking I suppose) but what could cause sand to come in from our filter? This is our 6th year with the pool and we have never had a problem like this before. 18 foot above ground. Thanks!

Re: Sand in my pool
Try to just vac the sand to waste, it could be that it's the same sand getting recirculated back into the pool. if your filter had a little water in the bottom over the winter, it could have crushed a small amount of sand that now passes through each time.
Or, you could have a cracked lateral
or you could have a bad fit where your valve meets the standpipe - check for play there, you can add a couple of wraps of electrical tape to help seal it better.

Re: Sand in my pool
I have sand in my 21' AG pool everyday. Probably a good cups' worth. I vacuum with the Pool Buster so it doesn't get into the system. The next day, there's more sand in the pool. It shows up even with the solar cover on. I think my filter has to be leaking somehow.

Re: Sand in my pool
I had sand in my pool and at the end of the season took the filter apart and my standpipe had a crack in it.
It's not a big deal at all to empty the sand filter and check out the laterals and standpipe. I have a 150lb sand filter and it takes about an hour. The second time I did it I just lined my wheel barrow with a garbage back so that I could just put the sand back in after I checked everything.
