Wiring of Whisperflo, have a simple question.
HI All,
I am replacing my old pool motor with a 115v Whisperflo. I have the wiring switched over to 115V (came standard 220V).
My question is this, there is L1 and L2 for the line coming in. Does it matter which one gets hot or neutral? No specification is made. I don't think it matters but wanted to ask.
Thanks,
Joe

Doesnt really matter, BUT rule of thumb is hot - L1, neutral - L2

Hi Joe...
why do you want to run it 115V? If the wiring for your pool doesn't run anything else (lights and such), I would seriously consider 230V. Simple matter of changing the breaker back at the panel.
To answer your question yes it does matter... I assume it's an AO Smith motor that's used on practically all pool pumps. The wiring diagram should be on the label. From my label...
Black Tracer on A (Black tracer is the white wire with a black stripe)
L2 Line
L1 Neutral, Black (The black jumper wire from the motor)
Re: Wiring of Whisperflo, have a simple question.
I would run 230V but my panel has no more room :(
Here is a picture of my diagram, no specification as far as hot/neutral. BTW I still have to move the white wire to L2 and brown to B for 115V.....at least that is what I get from the diagram.
Thanks a ton for the help!
