Should i replace liner myself?

My 3 year old 15x24 JEW pool has a leak. over both of the past two winters i lost half to 3/4 of the water while the pool was closed. After the first winter, i spent the summer searching for the leak and could not find it, i spent hours on it. This year i said screw it i was going to have some one fix it. I called 4 AG techs and none would look for and fix the leak, they all said all they do is replace the liners. Leaks that small could take them hours to find, and it is cheaper to have them just replace the liner. It made cents to me.

Any advice on replacing the liner, while i have never done one, i am a contractor by trade so i am sure i could handle it. But like i say often to my guys, some things are better left for the experts so get the right person to do the job if there is any doubt. For a liner I'm not sure. I could get a liner this week and have it done by the weekend. All the techs i talked to were booked a few weeks out.

There is a leak-finding dye you can buy to help you pin-point the leak. But replacing the liner will give you a chance to inspect the walls for possible problems and generally fix up your pool. You can find replacement liners for an 18' pool for less than $150.--
