I installed a SWG this year and now I am noticing a small leak around the bottom of my return. Is there anything I can put on there to stop the leak. I don't want to have to drain my water below the return to work on it. I was thinking something like silicon but I didn't want to make a mess or waste my time. Can anyone give me any suggestions??

There is a 2 part marine glue available at the home depot that works on wet surfaces, JB weld also works well, however, I don't think the surface can be wet while it's being applied.
Hi slowtan, catch me up on terms. What does SWG stand for? The majority of pools use a Hayward return. It has a big nut on the outside. You could try to tighten that. Most returns have a fitting that is screwed into the return. Is the leak coming from the fitting? If so remove it, retape it and put it back in.
Anything you do can be done with a full pool. Hayward returns are known to get hairline cracks just inside the inside flange, the only cure is to replace them. I do this quite often. Have a second person on hand to plug the opening while the fitting is being replaced. I prefer doing it this way, that way when I leave I know the pool is not leaking.
The only problem with sealing the outside of a return with silicone is that it could continue to leak, between the wall and the liner, causing rust.
