Live in Atlanta and want to keep pool open for winter...
We have a 2 month old 12,000 gallon vinyl pool. We have an Aqua Rite SWG and its been great. Our pool has been crystal clear all summer. However, we dont want to close it being her in Atlanta. Our skimmer and pool cleaner is sucking up leaves fine. Right now we filter 4 hours a day. The SWG is reading 3300. At some point when it gets colder, the SWG wont work. What do we do then? Add shock to keep the water clear? When will the SWG not work?

also, I wanted to add...that our pipes are buried pretty deep, It never gets too cold here. Alot of people leave their pool open here, and we are too. I am just concerned about keeping it clear/algae free. We have freeze protection on our timers and pump as well.

poollover, whether the salt chlorine generator will continue to operate under cold water conditions depends on which manufacture it is.
If your system does shut down, you will have to feed chlorine manually. This should not be too difficult or time consuming as the chlorine demand is much less when it is cooler out. However, if you heat your pool, that's another story. That condition should not let your salt system shut down and in fact will require more chlorine.
Hope this helps
