Texas pool open all year, will chlorine use go down?
We bought a house with our first pool ever in April. It turned green in late May, and we converted to BBB in early June. I noticed a slight uptick in bleach use during late July/August as we hit peak temperatures. Now that the temps have dropped off, I'm able to use a little less - 4-5 cups a day versus 6+ to hold about 1.5 ppm.
It really makes no sense to close this pool since we can have 90 degree days in January, but I was wondering if the average temperature will affect chlorine use as we head into winter.

Yes... you will see a drop in chlorine demand due to cooler temps as well as less sunlight due to shorter days.

Shorter days - Doh!
We're already seeing that. Our backyard backs up to a steep hill. This summer, the sun was off the pool by 6:15PM. Now, it's already off the pool by 5:45PM. Thank you Galileo! :p
