New pool - how long for the PH to settle?
I am two months into my new IG, gunite, plastered pool and I am still going through 1 Gallon of acid per week to keep the PH under control. I thought it was my water feature, but I've kept it off, and the splash activity low for over a week and the consumption has stayed the same.
Can anyone share how long it took their new pool to stabilize?

For me, I cannot say for sure since I have a SWG and PH continually rises. But I saw a reduction in the first couple of months. I have heard from some people that it can take 6 months to a year before the PH stabilizes.

been a little over a year for me.. still adding about 1G acid a week. I really don't have to add anythign else!
35k Gal, SWG.
Re: New pool - how long for the PH to settle?
My pool is a bit of an oddball and even one of the more experienced members here remarked that my pH was amazingly stable for a new pool. For what it's worth, my pool stayed in gunite for 3 months  prior to interior finishing (not MY choice...). I don't know for sure if that's relevant, but it seems to be the only explanation.
My Pebblesheen is nearly 3 months old and I'm only in my 3rd gallon of muriatic acid. In fact, my pH seems almost stuck at 7.5. Once, early on, I added enough muriatic acid to drop it to 7.2 but within just a day or 2 it was right back at 7.5.
My TA is just 80 and I run a waterfall 12 hours a day. SWG just operational for the last 2-1/2 weeks. Have added about 5 cups muriatic acid since the startup of the SWG. Last addition was 9 days ago and I'm about to add some today, as my pH still reads 7.5 but is taking on a bit of a pinkish overtone.
