PH question

Hello again,

In using BleachCalc it states that the formula for raising PH is for Soda Ash and not borax...that being said...What IS the formula to use to decide how much borax to add, if and when I need it?

btw, for those of you that helped me with my algae...almost had it beat and then had to drain the entire pool secondary to a leak!!!! I'm currently waiting on CenTex back yard to dry (in this heat should be about 4 hours) and then I will start refilling the pool. Still have plenty of swim time down here..

There isn't a real formula, because how much Borax to add depends on your TA, among other things. You want your pH to be in the 7.2-7.8 range. Borax will raise pH without raising alk. Add it slowly through the skimmer, breaking up clumps, give it a couple of hours to mix, then retest and add as needed.
